Bird Shows

Bird Shows in our region

A bird SHOW is a competition, where birds of a species are judged, against each other, using a standard describing the species.

Anyone can enter their bird in a bird show, after meeting show requirements.  Exhibitors are frequently breeders establishing the quality of their birds for hobby or commercial purposes.

A show may have a companion event, including vendors of birds and supplies, but these are frequently referred to as Bird Fairs or Bird Marts, and are technically distinct from the "show."

Shows, and their judges, are typically sanctioned, or affiliated, with national organizations dedicated to promoting individual species.  The Gateway Parrot Club has its roots in bird shows, but for several years, prior to 2009, had not organized or participated in a show.
