Historically we listed breeders  and  veterinarians on the web site. Though there was no explicit policy statement, it was done to help connect people with resources.   In July, 2003 the Board agreed to offer listings on the web site for pet-related businesses owned or operated by our members.  There was discussion about how the businesses should be qualified before listing, what type of businesses might/not qualify, etc.

We concluded it would be difficult to screen the businesses and could lead to other issues if some were disqualified.  Since part of the Club's mission is to enjoy the bird community both human and avian, we decided on a hands-off approach.  Now the disclaimer... 

The Gateway Parrot Club does not endorse these businesses or make any claims whatsoever other than that the individual associated with the business is a member in good standing.

Some of the businesses are part-time endeavors by people that love birds and things associated.  Others are truly commercial, including vendors you see at the All-American Hookbill Fair.  We hope you find this a valuable resource in locating products and services.  We are interested in feedback.  We hope and expect all these businesses conduct themselves ethically both commercially and in the care of animals where applicable.
