This is a mailing list hosted by Yahoo! The mechanics of using it are simple. Send a normal email message to one address, and many people receive it. You can also go to the list's "home page" and review recent discussions or search past threads.
The URL for the Yahoo Group's web page is:
You may join the group by requesting membership from the moderator. Do this by sending an email request to:
This will begin a process, detailed below, where you receive an approval from the moderator and then go to Yahoo to complete the registration. It is most convenient if the email address you send your subscription request from is the address you would like to receive messages from the group.
There are no hard and fast rules about how to use the list, though I'm sure you could find some fine print at Yahoo about appropriate use. This assumes we don't have to go into a discussion of offensive language, etc... Do keep in mind that the list is a one-to-many conversation. If a discussion begins in that general mode and evolves to a one-to-one dialog, it would be polite to continue the discussion outside the list.j
Having said there are no hard and fast rules, here are the official rules you will see when you sign up...
List Rules for the Gateway Parrots List:
This is a friendly list. It is alright to have friendly debates but everyone here has the right to their own personal opinion. This must be respected. Heated debates will not be tolerated & no name calling is allowed.
Even though this is a public list, all emails written here are not to be forwarded to others who are not list members or to other lists. Thanks to everyone for their cooperation in keeping the Gateway Parrots list a fun, friendly & informative list.
This is an automated message that will go out to all new members upon joining and to all members monthly as a reminder.
List membership is not published. Phyllis Cotton manages the list membership. Most list members are GPC members, but there are list members outside the GPC and GPC membership is not required for list membership.
