2018 Grants Awarded...

This year's grants were awarded to organizations supporting our mission statement, based on nomination and voting of our members. All active members present at the March meeting voted to give $500 grants to each of the following 4 organizations for a total of $2,000.

WILD BIRD REHAB - Wild Bird Rehabilitation is the only organization in the St. Louis area that cares for native wild songbirds. Our mission is to provide care for injured, ill and orphaned native wild songbirds and to release them back into their natural habitat. We also provide public education regarding the humane treatment of wild songbirds and the conservation of their habitat.

ASSOCIATION OF AVIAN VETERINARIANS - The Association of Avian Veterinarians is an international professional organization of practitioners advancing and promoting avian medicine, stewardship, and conservation through education of its members, the veterinary community and those they serve.

SAVING THE BLUES - The well-being of all birds, especially parrots, is Bird Endowment's passion. Our daily labor, however, is breaking the extinction vortex into which the Blue-throated Macaw has been thrust. In the wild, we support Blue-throated Macaw conservation projects that are planned and executed with stakeholder consensus. In captivity, our facility empowers Blue-throated Macaw parents to fledge and wean their offspring in the safety of a protected captive environment.

WORLD BIRD SANCTUARY - The World Bird Sanctuary is both a unique St. Louis attraction and entertaining environmental education opportunity. With over 305 acres and over 200 animals in our care, we offer a one-of-a-kind wildlife experience. The World Bird Sanctuary's mission is to preserve the earth's biological diversity and to secure the future of threatened bird species in their natural environments. We work to fulfill that mission through education, captive breeding, field studies and rehabilitation.
